Enterprise pronásleduje ukradený křižník S.S. Aurora, kterého se zmocnila skupinku podivných asociálů – jakýchsi vesmírných hippies, pátrajících po mýtické planetě Eden. Když motory pronásledované lodi explodují, nemá Kirk jinou možnost než přijmout "květinové děti"
na palubu. To ovšem pořádně zamíchá zavedeným řádem.
