Martok vezme na Rotarran nové rekruty, aby doplnil chybějící členy posádky. Worf ke své hrůze mezi rekruty spatří někoho, koho by tam v žádném případě neočekával: svého pacifistického syna Alexandra, který by měl správně být na Zemi u svých nevlastních prarodičů. Alexandr se však nemá k tomu, aby otci svou přítomnost vysvětlil; vlastně se k Worfovi a jeho rodu vůbec nechce znát.
