Na stanici je zavražděn mladý poručík jménem Hector Ilario. Vyšetřování ukáže, že byl zabit experimentálním prototypem pušky TR-116, která dokáže střílet skrz překážky díky vestavěnému mikrotransportéru projektilů. To znamená, že vrahem může být kdokoli a střílet se mohlo úplně odkudkoli. Prvním krokem k odhalení pachatele je zjištění motivu – a tím je pověřena Ezri Dax.
