Během návštěvy Enterprise na stanici DS9 kontaktuje Worfa podezřelý Yridian jménem Jaglom Shrek, který prohlašuje, že Worfův otec Mogh přežil khitomerský masakr a byl internován v romulanském zajateckém táboře. Worf Shrekovi nevěří, ale přesto se vydává na cestu v naději, že nalezne svého otce naživu. Doktor Julian Bashir mezitím využívá lodní ošetřovnu ke studiu skeneru z kvadrantu Gama.
