Neviditelná výzvědná loď nepřátelských Romulanů představuje pro Enterprise velkou hrozbu. Enterprise naopak představuje hrozbu pro Romulany. Posádky obou lodí jenom slouží své vlasti a touží se vrátit domů – do svého domovského přístavu však může dorazit jen jedna z nich.
